How It Works
Send us your address. We quote from satellite imagery, so no site visit is needed. Tell us your approximate panel count, number of stories, and your roofer's schedule.
Detach. We safely shut down the system, remove the panels, and protect the wiring at the junction box. Old roof anchors are left in place so your roof isn't left with open holes before the roofers arrive.
Your roofer re-roofs. The roofing crew removes the old anchors at tear-off and installs your new roof.
Reset. We install all-new roof anchors, reinstall your panels, test the system, and check that your monitoring is reporting again.
Why Use Solar Medic for Your Detach & Reset?
Most roofing contractors aren't licensed to touch solar systems — and they shouldn't. Solar panels involve live DC electrical circuits that require a licensed professional to handle safely. Solar Medic brings 18 years of solar experience and the proper licensing to every detach and reset job. We own our own electric boom lift, which means faster mobilization, lower cost, and no waiting on equipment rentals. And we never reuse old roof anchors — every reset gets new ones, so your new roof starts out right.
Detach & Reset FAQ
How long will my system be offline? We schedule the detach right before your roofer starts and the reset as soon as the new roof is on, so downtime is limited to the roofing job itself.
Do you work on systems you didn't install? Yes. We detach and reset systems from any installer.
Do you reuse the old roof anchors? No. Old anchors stay in place until tear-off to protect your roof, then the roofers remove them. Every reset gets all-new anchors.
What if you find damaged panels or wiring? We'll show you what we found and quote the repair before doing any additional work.
Will my monitoring work after the reset? We test the system after the reset and check that monitoring is reporting. If your monitoring equipment was already offline or outdated before the job, we'll tell you what it takes to fix it.
When do I pay? Payment is split in two: one part is due when the detach is complete, and the balance is due when the reset is complete.
What do you need to give me a quote? Your address, approximate panel count, number of stories, and your roofer's timeline. Photos help but aren't required.
