CRITTER GUARD FOR SOLAR PANELS

Squirrels, birds, and other animals love nesting under rooftop solar panels. The warm, sheltered space between your panels and roof is perfect habitat — and a nightmare for your solar system.

Critter damage is one of the most common causes of solar system failures in Virginia. Animals chew through DC wiring, build nests that block airflow and cause overheating, and leave debris that accelerates panel degradation. In many cases the damage isn't visible from the ground until production has already dropped significantly.

What We Install

Solar Medic installs galvanized steel mesh critter guard around the perimeter of your solar array, blocking access while allowing airflow. The mesh is attached directly to the panel frames and roof — no drilling into panels required.

Signs You May Have a Critter Problem

  • Unexplained drop in solar production

  • Inverter error codes or faults

  • Visible debris or nesting material under panels

  • Scratching or rustling sounds from the roof

  • Chewed wiring visible during inspection

We Also Repair Critter Damage

Already have damage? Solar Medic can inspect your system, repair or replace chewed wiring, and install critter guard to prevent future problems.
